A Canterlot Wedding: Part 2 (Stallion Version)

[Our story opens in a dark cavern.  Dusk Shine is using his horn to illuminate his surroundings.]

Dusk Shine: [calls out] Hello! [walks forward] Can anyone hear me? [Dusk Shine bumps into a crystal wall.  Prince Bolero can be heard laughing manically in the distance.] Where am I? [Suddenly Lord Bolero's face appears in the crystal walls.]

Lord Bolero: You're in the caves beneath Canterlot, once home to selfish unicorns who wanted to claim the gems that could be found inside. And now, your prison.

Dusk Shine: [Scared] Help! Anypony!

Lord Bolero: [evil chuckle] It's no use. No one can hear you. And no one will ever think to look for you, either. Most ponies have forgotten that these caves even exist. That's why they're the perfect place to keep anyone who tries to muck up my plans. Mhahahahaha

Dusk Shine: [worried] Plans… What plans?

Lord Bolero: [gets a very naughty look on his face] The plans I have for your sister.

Dusk Shine: [Enraged] If you hurt my sister, I swear to Solaris, I will rip both your wings off! [His horn is glowing bright red from his anger.]

Lord Bolero: [Sarcastic] Oh, I'm so scared. [Taunting] A wimp like you could never stop me!

[Dusk Shine fires a spell at Bolero.  It bounces off the crystal.  Bolero appears on a different crystal.]

Lord Bolero: [taunting] Over here featherbrain! [Dusk Shine fires another spell, Bolero changes his position again.] Nope, over here Dork Shine!

[Dusk Shine fires off several more spells, shattering crystals in the process.  After breaking a very large crystal, he reveals Lord Bolero.  For some reason, Bolero now has a disheveled appearance.]

Dusk Shine: [enraged] There you are you coward!

Lord Bolero: [scared] Wait, no! [Dusk Shine tackles him][passive] You wouldn't hurt and unarmed stallion, would you? [Looks over Dusk Shine] Wait… are you Dusk Shine? [Dusk Shine glares at him with mixture of confusion and anger] You've got to believe me; I've been imprisoned like you.  The Bolero who brought you here was an imposter.

Dusk Shine: [still angry] A likely story! Now let's see what you look like without those pretty wings of yours!

Lord Bolero: [reciting an oath] Honor, Courage, we must fight today...

Dusk Shine: [joins in nervously] grab your sword, and jump into the fray. [Releases Bolero] Our old super hero oath… [sits down] you remembered me.

Lord Bolero: [Puts a hoof on Dusk Shine's shoulder] Of course I remember…  How could I forget the little colt I liked to sit for the most.

[Suddenly, they are interrupted by the sound of Evil Bolero laughing.  In the distance they see a glimmer of light.]

Dusk Shine: We have to get out of here.  We have to stop him! [Dusk Shine and Good Bolero head towards the source of the light.]

[Next Scene: Inside Canterlot Castle.  Evil Bolero is putting on his suit.]

Evil Bolero: [Looks in the mirror and fixes his collar]
[singing] This day is going to be perfect
The kind of day of which she dreamed when she was small
All those fools will gather round
Say she looks lovely in her gown
What they don't know is the groom has fooled them all.

Good Bolero: [Running through the caverns]
[singing] This day was going to be perfect
The kind of day of which we dreamed when we were small
But instead of having cake beside our friends to celebrate [Dusk Shine tries to comfort him]
Our wedding bells, they may not ring for us at all…

Evil Bolero: [Singing] I could care less about her dress
I won't partake in any cake [kick over a table for no reason]
Vows, well I'll be lying when I say [Starts playing with one of the mannequins]
"That through any kind of weather
I'll want us to be together"
The truth is I don't care for her at all [sets the entire mannequin on fire]
No I do not love the bride
For my heart is dead inside
But still want her to be all mine!

Good Bolero: [Singing] We must escape before it's too late
Find a way to save the day
Hope, I'll be lying if I say
"I don't fear that may lose her
To one who wants to use her [He and Dusk Shine reach an old mine cart]
Not care for, love, or cherish her each day"
For I oh so love the bride [Bolero tries to push the cart, but it won't budge]
Oh, in my heart she does reside [flattered, Dusk Shine helps Bolero into the cart]
Oh Sparkling Shield, I'll be there by your side [the cart finally moves down the steep track. Upon reaching the end of the track, Bolero takes flight and carries Dusk Shine with him.]

[At the wedding, Evil Bolero is standing at the altar.  Barbara comes in as the flower girl, and is followed by Sparkling Shield.  She is wearing a beautiful white wedding dress with gold trimmings.  Her eyes are still green.]

Evil Bolero: [Singing] Finally the moment has arrived
[gets a very naughty look on his face] For me to take a very lucky bride

Good Bolero: [singing] Oh the wedding we won't make
She'll end up marring a fake
Sparkling Shield will be…

Evil Bolero: [deep grumble] Mine… all mine… Mhahahahahaha!

[Next Scene: At the wedding.  Lord Solaris is starting the wedding.]

Lord Solaris: Mares and gentlecolts, we are gathered here today to witness the union of Lord D'Amore Bolerius and Sparkling Shield.

[Meanwhile in the caves below Canterlot]

Good Bolero: [Searching for an exit] We're never going to save her at this rate.

Dusk Shine: We will. We just have to find... [notices a nearby exit] there! [Dusk quickly teleports him and Bolero up to the exit.  However, upon reaching the exit, they find a brainwashed Sparky, Crest, and Harpsy all blocking the exit.]

Groomsmen: You're not going anywhere.

[Meanwhile, back at the wedding.]

Lord Solaris: Lord Bolero and Sparkling Shield, it is my great pleasure to pronounce you...

Dusk Shine: [interrupts shouting] Stop the wedding!

Evil Bolero: Ugh! Why does he have to be so protective of his sister? [To Sparkling Shield] Why does he have to ruin our special day?

Good Bolero: [Enters] Because it's not your special day. It's ours. [Everyone gasps]

Evil Bolero: [Shocked] What? But how did you escape my groomsmen?

[Earlier in the caves: The groomsmen are approaching menacingly.]

Good Bolero: [Thinking quickly] Look! Bridesmaids! [points off in the distance]

Groomsmen: Where!? [The three groomsmen run off to find the bridesmaids.]

[Back at the wedding]

Evil Bolero: [Impressed] Hmph. Clever. But your still too late.

Applejack: [Confused] I-I don't understand. How can there be two of 'em?

Good Bolero: He's a changeling. He takes the form of somepony you love and gains power by feeding off your love for them.

[Suddenly, Evil Bolero begins to change.  His eyes and horn glow bright green and green flams shoot out around him.  His wings transform from pink pegasus wings to hideous moth-eaten insect wings.  His legs transform into long black legs with holes in them.  His horn transforms into a crooked black mess of a horn.  He is the evil King Nymphamos.]

King Nymphamos:  [His voice is deep and demonic] Right you are, young Lord. [We get a good look at the evil king for the first time.  He is a hideous pony insect hybrid.  His mane is bluish grey and has a mangy appearance, as if someone ripped strands of his mane out.  He is about the same size as Solaris] And as king of the changelings, it is up to me to find food for my subjects. Equestria has more love than any place I've ever encountered. My fellow changelings will be able to devour so much of it that we will gain more power than we have ever dreamed of!

Lord Bolero: They'll never get the chance! Sparkling Shield's protection spell will keep them from ever even reaching us.

King Nymphamos: [evil chuckle] Oh, I doubt that. [turns to Sparkling Sheild] Isn't that right, woman?

Sparkling Shield: [hypnotized] Yes dear. [Bolero runs over to Sparkling Shield, but Nymphamos blocks path.]

King Nymphamos: Not so fast, young man. [charging a spell] You wouldn't want me to send your beloved bride to the caves, would you? [Bolero takes a few steps back] Ever since I took your place, I've been feeding off Sparkling Shield's love for you. Every moment she grows weaker and so does her spell. Even now my minions are chipping away at it. [Outside we see several changlings attacking the shield] She may not be my wife, but she is under my total control. Just like any mare should be to her husband. [Dusk Shine and Bolero look on with fury] And I'm sorry to say, unable to perform her duties as captain of the royal guard, [smug] but it's not like a mare could have done any better unhindered.

Lord Bolero: [angry and offended] How dare you refer to Sparkling Shield in such a way! She may be a mare, but she's the strongest warrior I have ever met.

King Nymphamos: [ignoring Bolero] Soon, my changeling army will break through. First, we take Canterlot. And then, all of Equestria!

Lord Solaris: No. You won't. [steps forward] You may have made it impossible for Sparkling Shield to perform her spell, but now that you have so foolishly revealed your true self, [Bucks horns with the evil king] I can protect my subjects from you! [Takes flight and casts a powerful spell at King Nymphamos.]

[Nymphamos casts a spell of his own, and the two spells collide in midair.  Nymphamos closes his eyes, ready to take a hit, but suddenly he notices that he is overpowering Lord Solaris.  For a brief moment Lord Solaris looks scared, as he is hit by King Nymphamos' spell.  Lord Solaris' golden helmet goes flying through the air, and Solaris collapses on the ground.  Everyone gasps in horror.]

Dusk Shine: [Horrified] Lord Solaris! [He and his friends all run over to aid Lord Solaris.]

King Nymphamos: [Impressed with himself] Well, Sparkling Shield's love for you is stronger than I thought.  Consuming it has made me even more powerful than Solaris.

Lord Solaris: [Very weak] The Elements of Harmony. You must get to them, and use their power to defeat the evil king.

[Determined: The stallion six remove their wedding suits and leave the Royal hall.  Elusive tries to stay behind and save the suits.]

Other five: [calling out] Elusive, hurry up! [annoyed, Elusive drops the suits and follows them out.]

King Nymphamos: [Evil chuckle] You can run, but you can't hide.

[Outside, the changeling army finally manages to break though the magic shield. Several begin to charge the stallion six.]

Dusk Shine: Go! Go! Go! [He and his friends take off.]

[The stallion six quickly duck and weave their way through the onslaught.  One changeling land directly in front of Dusk Shine.  He counters with a curb stomp.   Reaching the top of the steps that lead to the Canterlot library, the six stop in their track.  A huge changeling army is blocking the front door to the library.]

Rainbow Blitz: [Bumps his forhooves together] Looks like we're gonna have to do this the hard way.

[Blitz approaches the changelings only to run into an exact duplicate of himself.  Confused he stares at the duplicate for a few seconds.  The duplicate uses the opportunity to buck Blitz in the head, knocking him on his back.]

Rainbow Blitz: [Woozy and confused] How did he…

[Suddenly, all the changelings start copying all six stallions.]

Dusk Shine: Their changelings remember.

Changelings: [All disguised as Dusk] Their changelings remember.

Dusk Shine: [Prepares for battle] Don't let them distract you, we have to get to the Elements of Harmony. They're our only hope.

[The two sides charge each other, and the battle begins.  Dusk Shine quickly dispatches an Applejack imposter.]  

[Meanwhile, Butterscotch encounters sever changelings disguised as himself.  Scared, he quickly pretends to throw a few punches to fool them, before attempting to run to safety.  However, he runs right into several changelings disguised as Blitz.  Butterscotch cowers in fear as the changelings prepare to strike. Just as they are about to attack, the Blitz in the middle quickly knocks out all the others, and helps Butterscotch to his feet.]

[Elsewhere, Applejack is fighting side by side with Dusk Shine.  However, this Dusk Shine quickly reveals itself to be a changeling and tackles Applejack.]

Applejack: Okay, this is just gettin' weired…

[Meanwhile, Dusk Shine subdues a copy of himself.  He then attacks a doggy pile of Applejacks.  After firing a few spells, he encounters an Applejack that isn't effected by his spells.]

Applejack: [being held upside down] Real me! Real me! [Dusk Shine sets him down.]

[At the same time, Bubble Berry is busy watching a changeling transform into all his friends.]

Bubble Berry: [Excited] That's so cool! Do me next.

[The changeling rolls her eyes and transforms into Bubble Berry.]

Bubble Berry: [disappointed] Meh… I've seen better. [Berry then grabs Dusk Shine and uses him as a Gatling laser to fight off the changelings.]

[The stallion six continue the fight until all the changelings have been defeated.  Noticing several more changelings are coming, they quickly hurry inside the library… only to find that there are already hundreds of changelings inside.]

[Next Scene: Lord Solaris awakens inside a cocoon prison, inside the royal hall.  All his possessions have been stripped from him.  King Nymphamos, Lord Bolero, and Sparkling Shield are also in the royal hall.]

Lord Bolero: [Glued to the floor by green slime] You won't get away with this.  Dusk Shine and his friends will...

[Suddenly, the door to the royal hall opens up.  The stallion six are all brought in as prisoners by the changeling army.]

King Nymphamos: [Smug] You were saying?  [To the changelings] You do realize the reception's been cancelled, don't you? Go! Feed! [All the changelings fly outside] It's funny, really. [ruffles Dusk Shine mane] Dusk Shine here was suspicious of my behavior all along. [Dusk Shine swats the evil king's hoof away] Too bad the rest of you were too caught up in your wedding planning to realize those suspicions were correct.

Applejack: Sorry Dusk.  We shoulda listened to you.

Dusk Shine: [dejected] It's... it's not your fault.  He fooled everypony.

King Nymphamos: I did, didn't I? [looks out the window to see his changeling army laying waste to Canterlot.]
[Singing] This day has been just perfect
The kind of day of which I dreamed since I was small
Everypony I'll soon control
Evey stallion, mare, and foal
Who says a man can't really have it all. [evil chuckle]

[While the evil king is distracted, Dusk Shine sneaks over to Bolero.]

Dusk Shine: Quick, go to her while you still have the chance. [Uses a spell to remove the slime]

[Bolero quickly heads over to Sparkling Shield.  Saddened that she is still hypnotized, Bolero gives her a passionate kiss.  While he is kissing her, a small heart shaped spell pops out of his horn.  When the spell hits Sparkling Shield, she awakens from her trance.]

Sparkling Shield: [confused] Wha… What happened? Is… Is the wedding over?

King Nymphamos: [Interrupts them] It's all over, woman!

Dusk Shine: Sparkling Shield! You have to cast your spell!

King Nymphamos: Mhahahaha! You call yourself a stallion, yet you expect a mare to save you?  Besides, my changelings already roam free.  There's nothing you can do now!

Sparkling Shield: I'm not afraid of you! [Tries to cast her protection spell, but it doesn't work.] No! My powers are useless now. I don't have the strength to repel all of them.

Lord Bolero: [hugs Sparkling Shield] Our love for each other will give us strength.

King Nymphamos: Mhahaha! That's very sweet.  Excuse me while I go throw up!

[Lord Bolero begins to charge up a spell, Sparkling Shield charges a spell of her own.  The two touch horns and their spell combines.  The power of the spell creates a gust a wind around them and they both rise into the air together.  The stallion six look on in amazement.  The evil king is stunned by the sudden change of events.  The spell grows stronger and Bolero and Sparkling Shield both glow bright white.  Finally, the spell reaches its apex and shoots out a giant wave of magical energy.  All the ponies are unaffected by this wave, but the changelings are blown away.]

King Nymphamos: [Hit by the spell] Nooooooooo!

[The spell continues on, expelling all traces of the changelings from Canterlot.  With the spell completed Bolero and Sparkling Shield slowly touch the ground.  Dusk Shine quickly runs over to help Lord Solaris, who has been freed from his cocoon prison.]

Lord Solaris: [Gets to his feet] Don't worry about me, young man. I'm fine. You have a real wedding to put together.

[We get a brief montage of the new wedding planning.  Applejack gives a few apple fritters to Bolero, which he enjoys. Elusive prepares a nice suit for Bolero.  Bubble Berry and Bolero both dance polka at the Bachelor party, and Butterscotch trains his birds with Sparkling Shield.]


[A few days later. The real wedding is about to begin.  Lord Bolero is standing at the altar, with the stallion six, except for Dusk Shine who is with Sparkling Shield as she prepares to walk down the aisle. Dusk Shine fixes her vale before she walk in.]

[With everything ready, Butterscotch directs his birds to start singing the wedding march.  Flower girl Barbara walk down the aisle dropping flower peddles while Sparkling Shield follows close behind her, while being escorted by Dusk Shine.  Dusk Shine's parents shed a few tears as they see their daughter walk down the aisle.  Lord Bolero gives a gentle smile.]

Dusk Shine: [To Sparkling Shield as they are walking down the aisle together] I get why the king of the Changelings wanted to be with you, but why do you think someone as cool as Bolero proposed to you?

Sparkling Shield: He told me that he wouldn't just be gaining a wife, he'd be getting a pretty great brother, too.

[As Sparkling Shield nears the altar, Elusive take out a hanky and blows his nose.  Applejack puts on his trademark cowboy hat.  Finally, Sparkling Shield reaches the altar, and Dusk Shine hands her off to Bolero.]

Lord Solaris: Mares and gentlecolts, we are gathered here today to celebrate the union of the real Lord D'Amore Bolerius...

Lord Bolero: [interrupts politely] Bolero is fine.

Lord Solaris: Very well. The union of Lord Bolero and Sparkling Shield. The strength of their commitment is clear. The power of their love, undeniable. May we have the rings please? [Applebuck, Sweepy Bell, and Scooteroll hand Solaris the rings together. He places the rings on Sparkling Shield and Bolero's horns.] I now pronounce you stallion and filly.

[The newly wed Lord and Lady both walk out to the royal balcony and a greeted with thunderous applause.  Back inside, Lord Solaris is congratulating Dusk Shine.]

Lord Solaris: This is your victory as much as theirs. You persisted in the face of doubt, and your actions led to your being able to bring the real Lord Bolero back to us. Learning to trust your instincts is a valuable lesson to learn.  [Bolero and Sparkling Shield are outside kissing. Lord Solaris leans over and whispers something to Rainbow Blitz.]  Rainbow Blitz, that's your cue…

[Rainbow Blitz jumps out of his groomsmen suit and performs the sonic rainboom.]

Rainbow Blitz: Best. Wedding. EVER!

[Later at the wedding reception:  Bolero and Sparkling Shield are sharing their first dance together.  Lord Solaris and the stallion six are watching when Lord Artemis arrives.]

Lord Artemis: Hello, everypony. Did I miss anything?

[Dusk Shine nods to Bubble Berry, and he quickly heads over to the DJ booth.]

Bubble Berry: [Pulls Record Scrape over to the DJ booth and starts playing a song] Let's get this party started! [Tosses the microphone over to Dusk Shine.]

Dusk Shine: [Singing] Love is in bloom A beautiful bride, a handsome groom, Two hearts, becoming one A bond, that cannot be undone, because Love is in bloom A beautiful bride, a handsome groom I said, love is in bloom Starting a life and making room For us [Highlight from the wedding are shown during Dusk Shine's song.  They include Bubble Berry eating wedding cake, Applejack playing the fiddle, Sweepy and Barbara dancing together, Rainbow Blitz meeting Glida, and Elusive offering a rose to a fare lady.]

[With the reception over, Lord Bolero and Sparkling Shield both step into a royal carriage, however Sparkling Shield stops to speak with Dusk Shine]

Sparkling Shield: Dusky! None of this would've been possible without you, little brother. Love you, Dusk Shine.

Dusk Shine: [Flattered] Love ya too BSBFF.

Sparkling Shield: [enters the carriage] Ready to go, sweetheart?

Lord Bolero: Oh wait, I almost forgot.  [Bolero removes Sparkling Shield's garter.  He then sticks his head out the carriage window and fires the garter into the crowed like a slingshot]

Elusive: [Pushes his way to the front of the crowed] IT'S MINE!!! [Catches the garter in his teeth.  He then notices that everyone is gawking at him, and he blushes.]

Dusk Shine: [watches as the carriage pulls away] Now this was a great wedding.

Barbara: Oh yea? Just wait until you see what I have planned for the wedding shower. [Everyone laughs]

[Our story ends with a view of Canterlot Castle.  Fireworks are shot off into the night sky.]
