Equestria Boys Part 4: Saving Butterscotch

[Dusk Shine and Barb are walking through the hallway when they hears what sounds like Butterscotch off in the distance.]

Pink-haired boy: [inside a nearby bathroom][Scared] I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I just found it and I thought I should give it to him.  I didn’t know it was yours.  Please don’t hurt me!

[Dusk Shine and Barb peeks into the bathroom to see a jerk jock with a black letterman jacket bullying a pink haired boy.  He has the boy pined to the wall.]

Jerk Jock:  Yea, It was mine! And I was about to get it before you swooped in and mucked everything up! You shouldn't pick up things that don't belong to you.

Pink-haired boy: [very quietly] It... doesn't really belong to you, either.

Jerk Jock: [Pulls his fist back, ready to punch][angry] What did you just say!

Pink-haired boy: [scared] Nothing! I didn’t say anything!

Jerk Jock: That’s what I thought.

[The Jock releases his victim.  The pink hired boy slowly slides down the wall and curls up into a little shivering ball.  Dusk Shine and Barb both watch with disgust.]

Jerk Jock: You know darn well that helmet is as good as mine! [The pink haired boy begins to tear up] Awww, are you gonna cry now.  Why don’t you go cuddle up with those stray animals you have instead of friends.

[Dusk Shine has seen enough.  He bursts into the bathroom and confronts the bully.]

Dusk Shine: [angry] Hey! Leave him alone!

Jerk Jock: [turns around and faces Dusk Shine] Well, well, well…  You must be new here.  Let me show you how things work at this school…  [in one swift move, the jock grabs Dusk Shine in a headlock and drags him into the nearest bathroom stall]

Dusk Shine: [trying to resist] Let me go!

[The jock gives Dusk Shine a swirly and then tosses him back into the bathroom.]

Jerk Jock: [threatening] I’m the big man on campus around here. Don’t mess with me!

[The bully leaves the bathroom, once he is left, the now wet Dusk Shine reaches down to help the pink haired boy to his feet.]

Dusk Shine: Are you okay?

Pink-haired boy: I’m fine, thank you for helping me…

Dusk Shine: Well, I couldn’t just stand there.

Pink-haired boy: But… I’ve never seen anyone stand up to Sunset Glare.

Dusk Shine: [stunned] Sunset Glare!?

Pink-haired boy: You’ve heard him?

Dusk Shine: Sort of…

Pink-haired boy: I don't think I've seen you around before. Did you just transfer to Canterlot High from another school?

Dusk Shine: [thinking quickly] Um... yes! Another...uuh, school! My name's Dusk Shine.

Pink-haired boy: I’m [mumbles] Butterscotch…

Dusk Shine: [can’t hear] Um, What?

Butterscotch: [mumbles even worst] Butterscotch…

Dusk Shine: Wait! Did you say Butterscotch? How that possi-

[Just then Butterscotch notices Barb.  His eyes light up.]

Butterscotch: [interrupts Dusk Shine] Wow! A Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.  [runs over to Barb and starts petting her.] That’s my favorite type of dog.

Dusk Shine: That’s Barb, she’s like a little sister to me.

Butterscotch: I know what you mean. [Reaches into his bag, pulls out a dog treat, and offers it to Barb] Here you go little girl. [Barb takes the treat and enjoys it.]  Wouldn't you just give anything to know what they're really thinking?

Dusk Shine: She usually just tells me.

Butterscotch: [confused] What do you mean?

Barb: [Motions to Dusk Shine while Scotch’s back is turned] Bark! Bark! [wags her tail]

Dusk Shine: Oh, uh… nothing.  Anyway, Sunset Glare said you picked up a helmet.  Was it by any chance a gold helmet with a star shaped jewel.

Buttersotch: How did you know?

Dusk Shine: Uhh… Lucky guess.  Do you still have it?

Butterscotch: Sorry, I don’t.

Dusk Shine: But you know where it is.

Butterscotch: Yeah.  This morning, I was passing out flyers for the animal shelter like I do every Wednesday.

[Butterscotch flashes back to that morning.  He is standing infront of the school’s horse statue attempting to hand out flyers.  All the other students are ignoring him.]

Past Butterscotch: Canterlot's animal shelter needs more volunteers. Won't you help an animal that can't help itself? [Butterscotch’s flyers blow away in the wind, and he sits down next to the statue dejected.  Suddenly Dusk Shine’s helmet flies through the statue’s portal and hits him on the head.]  Ouch!

Butterscotch: [Ends the flashback] I have no idea how it got there, but I didn’t want anything to happen to it so I decided to give it to Principal Solaris.

Dusk Shine: [Confused] Principal Solaris.  He’s the ruler here?

Butterscotch: [looks at Dusk Shine awkwardly] I guess you could say that.  He and Vice-Principal Artemis do make all the rules.

Dusk Shine: Where is he now?

Butterscotch: Probably in his office.  [Dusk Shine runs out of the bathroom, only to run right back in immediately afterwards]  It should be the third door on your left.

Dusk Shine: Thanks! [Turns to leave]

Butterscotch: [stops Dusk Shine] Wait! You're not really supposed to have animals on school grounds. You might wanna tuck her into your backpack. That's what I do! [opens his backpack to reveal a cat, bird and rabbit living inside] These animals wouldn’t last one day on the streets.

Dusk Shine: Understood, thanks for the advice.

[The school bell rings.]

Butterscotch: [stops Dusk Shine again] Wait! You should dry yourself off first.  [Tosses Dusk Shine a towel] I always bring a towel just in case Sunset Glare decides to give me another swirly.

[Dusk quickly dries himself off with the towel and tosses it back to Butterscotch.]

Dusk Shine: Thanks again!

[Dusk hurries out of the bathroom and heads off to Principal Solaris’ office.]
